WHO AM I?

I am a proud Philadelphian, born and raised in the City of Brotherly Love.  My father is a retired Philadelphia Police Officer, and my mother spent over 30 years working in the insurance industry.  As an only child, I quickly learned to find ways to amuse myself.  However, growing up in West Oak Lane, I was surrounded by family, friends, and great neighbors and was exposed to great people while participating in many of the sports programs offered by the Police Athletic League (PAL).

I am a product of this city’s educational system.  As a youngster, I attended a variety of schools; Among them was Pastorius Elementary School, St. Athanasius Catholic School and Central High School, where I  graduated in 1984 (Class of 243). I began my college career at Temple University but, completed it at Hampton University where I earned my B.S Degree in Marketing in 1990.  With my degree, I went to work first for Pepsi-Cola as a Product Account Manager.  I subsequently left Pepsi to work for the New Journal & Guide newspaper in Norfolk, Virginia, one of the South’s oldest African-American newspaper.  There, I served as a Staff Writer, Sports Editor and Assistant to the Publisher.  Three years later, I went to work at my alma mater, Hampton University, where I served as the Assistant Director of Alumni Affairs.

In 1995, I enrolled at Villanova University Law School. Upon graduating in 1998, I served as law clerk to the Hon. Thomas Brown, Jr. in the Superior Court of Camden County, New Jersey. When my tenure as a law clerk was done, I joined the Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office in October 1999 as an Assistant District Attorney.  For nearly thirteen years, I tried thousands of bench trials, numerous jury trials and thousands of preliminary hearings. In addition, I served in various units in the office during my career. Moreover, I have appeared before many of the Judges who currently sit on the Court of Common Pleas in Philadelphia. In 2006, while serving as an Assistant District Attorney, I went back to pursue a Master’s in Trial Advocacy (LLM) from Temple University’s Beasley School of Law.

In 2012, I went to work for Allstate Insurance as a trial attorney defending Allstate clients.  In that capacity, I litigate cases in Philadelphia and several of the surrounding counties.  I am also an experienced certified arbitrator in Philadelphia.

For the last several years my wife and I have been serving as co-leaders of Junior High Ministry at New Covenant Church of Philadelphia.  I serve on the Board of Directors of Northwest Victim Services in Germantown. I am a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc and the Philadelphia Bar Association.

In addition to that, I have taught law as an adjunct professor at several local colleges.

My wife Esther and I have been married for 22 years, and we have two teenage daughters.
